The Screen Score: Blue Hour Radio
A rare case where the room got there first. The audience score has been climbing for six weeks while the trade stayed where it landed.
The trade notices reached for the same two words on release: slight, and charming. Six weeks later the film is still selling seats, and the audience figure has moved twenty-three points from where it opened.
Something is happening in the room that did not happen at the press screening. Usually that is word of mouth on a comedy. Here it looks more like recognition.
When the room is ahead
A rising audience score against a static professional one is the most interesting shape this system produces. It generally means a film is doing something for a specific audience that a general critical read is not built to catch.
We will revisit this one at twelve weeks. If the audience figure holds above eighty-five, the professional score is the number that was wrong.
